I like chess but I never have anyone to play with so I was wondering if anyone wanted to play with me online

It's not like I'm very good. And I'm sorry I can't post this at TR instead

This week I'm grading annual compliance quizzes. All of the lab workers have to watch powerpoint presentations on safety and HIPPA and dealing with patients, then take quizzes to prove that they paid attention. You have to get 90% to pass and everybody must pass by a certain date.

It's a pain in the ass to get the quizzes to the night staff and the on-calls so I really don't want people to fail because then I have to track them down and make them retake the quizzes. So, I posted the answers on the break room wall. The first-time pass rate this year should be record-setting.

I'm not very good at chess. I can beat my friends who suck at it more than me, though! Kind of like how I'm bad at Starcraft but I can beat most of my IRL's.

i'm the same way. at one point i got real practiced at zerg rush and the stuff right after that. but if we didn't have the other team off balance by that point, we'd be in trouble, because i was never good with zerg late in the game. couldn't find the right balance of things. though if our opponents were noobs it didn't matter.

I suck balls at chess. I have a friend who is pretty dumb and he can kick my ass at chess.

I can beat him at Starcraft though. well sc1, I don't have sc2. he does. i don't. and i dont care starcraft is dumb i'd rather play rock band, i'm like super good at that.

I'm good at Zerg very late game because by that point I usually make an enourmous swarm of guardians and have enough hatcheries to replace them as fast as I lose them. Well, only if the other player is a computer or incompetent. Usually I lose before that.

yeah that's where i go wrong with balancing everything. simply focusing on some obvious strategy like making a ton of guardians with their sweet range turns out to be disastrous. someone will just kill them all with air-to-air units. and all the variations on the obvious strategies run into trouble too. so does a straight jack-of-all trades game. i never could figure out exactly what it was i should be doing after about mid-game. nor could i figure out how some of these guys keep it all straight in their head.

i started going with humans more after a while, because their units are more versatile, and their progression is more linear, so they're harder to screw up.

well, in brood war i always just went for a 50/50 guardian devourer split. no computer player could stand against me with that but no actual player would let me get to that point
